This is a post Civil War letter written by General D H Hill and addressed to General James Longstreet. The letter is dated June 7, 1886 and is written on General Hill's stationary as President of the Middle Georgia Military and Agricultural College of Milledgeville, Georgia. At the time this letter was written General Longstreet had mostly retired from public life and was living on a farm near Gainsville, Georgia. The penmanship is typical of the era, which also means it can be difficult to understand some of the text, but it is a rare glimpse into the post Civil War minds of two legendary Generals.
