Franklin [1823 1903] was a United States career Army officer who began his military career in 1843 and was a veteran of the Mexican American War and the American Civil War. Franklin rose to the rank of corps commander in the Army of the Potomac and commanded in numerous notable battles including, the Manassas campaign, the Seven Days Battles, the Maryland campaign, the Battle of Fredericksburg, the Second Battle of Sabine Pass, the Red River campaign. Franklin also distinguished himself as a civil engineer before and after the war. Franklin signed on a page.
