This is a rare and authentic letter from General Nathaniel P. Banks to Abraham Lincoln(Yes Abraham Lincoln) during the Civil War.

The letter is a original period item and has not been modified. It is a must-have for any militaria collector or history enthusiast.

The letter provides insight into the conflicts of the Civil War. The content of the letter is of General Nathaniel Banks asking for a promotion for Horace Bisvey who was a Sergeant Colonel in the 1st Massachusetts Calvary under General Nathaniel Banks. This letter is written in ink not a photo copy and is very important as even though it is a clerk's copy it is still 1 out of three known to exist as the Original document written by the General is in the library of Congress and One of two copies is owned by the University of Louisiana which has copies of General Banks personal letters, war correspondence to and from other officers, Generals and the Commander and Chief. Major General Nathaniel Banks was a lifelong politician in Massachusetts before and after the Civil war as a General under Abraham Lincoln he was in charge of reconstruction in New Orleans after the union took Louisiana.
