Civil War KY Military Institute Commencement Jeff Davis General Harlan 1860 READ

Bifold Kentucky Military Institute commencement brochure printed in gold with violet central vignette dated June 13 1860 just months after the beginning of the war. The 1860 class was the only class that graduated during the war as the campus was decimated by a fire that same year and was closed for the remainder of the war. Listed as honorary managers are both Jeff Davis and Union general John Harlan. I do not know if the Jeff Davis listed is Confederate President Jefferson Davis, although he is from Kentucky.

Numerous other names still need research. Amusing that the legend of the central vignette is United We Stand.

Outstanding and rare piece of Civil War history. Please review pictures as they are the most important part of the description and the item(s) pictured are what you will receive.
