Joseph Hooker [1815 1879] was an officer in the United States Army who began his military career in 1837 and was a veteran of the Seminole Wars, the Mexican. War and commanded at numerous battles during the American Civil War. General Hooker distinguished himself at the battles of Williamsburg, Antietam, Fredericksburg and also commanded the Army of the Potomac.
