Civil War Hotchkiss Shell 1863 1864 General Sherman Campaign Rare. Acquired from an old civil war collector. Recovered from Sherman Campaign in GA, this battle used projectile does not have the brass fuse adapter intact in the nose of the artillery round.
Overall this is a beautiful specimen of a battle used relic. The shell body is heavy and contains the three flame grooves cut through the base cap. All gun metal surfaces are hard and smooth with light to moderate rust pitting overall, much cleaner than almost all projectile we researched. The shell measures approx 3 x 5.5 inches and weighs close to 8lbs. This is a very nice conditioned Civil War Hotchkiss percussion shell.
