A bust view of Union General Don Carlos Buell is pictured in this featured in this CDV. An 1841 graduate of West Point, Buell served in both the Seminole Wars and the Mexican War. He is best known for his Civil War service as commander of the Army of the Ohio in 1862. His troops were victorious at Shiloh and later that summer and fall during the Kentucky Campaign, however Buell was considered too cautious and was relieved in favor of William Rosecrans in late October.
The carte is in excellent condition with slight residue on the reverse from a previous mounting. It measures about 2 1/2" x 4". The backmark is that of J. Please see my other items for more interesting photographs.
