This wonderful, highly collectible book constitutes the extraordinary personal narrative of Private John Milton Hubbard who was a member of Company E, 7th Tennessee Regiment, Forrest's Cavalry Corps, C. Hubbard's memoir is an insightful, well-written history of his Civil War experiences. As part of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest's Cavalry Corps, Hubbard served in five states and participated in numerous battles and campaigns. This is the wonderful Souvenir Edition with excellent accounts not only of Hubbard's battles and war experiences, but also his insights into Forrest himself. The book contains a frontispiece portrait of author. The book includes an appendix that contains Forrest's farewell address and other text.

It has a photo of the equestrian statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest. THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION This antique book is in excellent overall condition. The book has solid binding throughout.

The exterior has no bumping, rubbing or discernable edge wear, but has some light soiling as shown. The interior is clean and in excellent condition. The book has a handsome, antique, gift inscription, dated 1911 on the front end page as shown; I have not evaluated this signature to determine if it is to a Civil War solider.

The pages are in excellent condition. The book has no foxing, stamps or pasteboards. It is not an ex-library book.

There is browning on the end pages. One page has some markings in red ink. The book has a frontispiece photograph about the author and the tissue guard is in fine condition. The book has a photograph of the Forrest Memorial as well as another photo of the author in uniform. The book has no looseness or lean; both hinges are solid.
