Signed letter by Mexican-American War and Civil War hero Joseph K. Mansfield, who was KIA at the Battle of Antietam in 1862. The civil engineer designed Fort Texas during the Mexican War, which would later be renamed Fort Brown, and played a critical role in the conflict.
