A small collection of documents relating to the discharge of Lt. Andrew Wilson, with signatures of General Joseph Hooker, General Henry Warner Slocum, General John W. Geary, and Colonel Charles Candy, as well as signatures of other officers in the Department of the Cumberland.
One sheet of orders, signed by the above mentioned officers. This has split along the folds and is now in three pieces. Writing is on both sides of each piece (see images 2 & 3, as well as last images which offer close-ups of major signatures). Various dates at the beginning of 1864, with locations in Alabama.
Sheet composed by Lieutenant Andrew Wilson requesting immediate discharge, dated February 16th 1864, Bridgeport, Alabama, submitted to Brigadier General Whipple. Reverse has been signed on return by Major William McMichael by command of General Thomas and another unknown signature by command of Joseph Hooker. Fully split along one fold (item is in two pieces, though it lines up very evenly with no loss of paper), partially split along other fold.
