The 2nd Battalion Maryland Cavalry was known as Gilmor's Partisan Rangers formed in 1864 under the command off Colonel Harry Gilmor. Consisting of 6 companies of Ranger they served in the Shenandoah Valley as scouts for Colonel Turner Ashby and for General JEB Stuart, conducted guerrilla operations against Union supply trains, railroads and Federal camps until the End of the War.

An Original Confederate Cross of Honor Certificate Confederate veteran William H Todd stating he served as a corporal in Company C of Gilmor's Battalion from March 1863 to the Close of the War. The certificate is signed by Comrade Todd at Baltimore, Maryland, Aug 17, 1912 and is also signed by attesting comrades Arthur Pue and C Graham Gilmor who also served w Gilmors Rangers, as members of the Winnie Davis Camp of the United Confederate Veterans. The Certificate on green paper is 8 x 11 ptd/ink with edge cuts, age stains, and the bottom corners are cut. Comes w service info for Corporal Todd and his comrades.
