CIVIL WAR LETTER - Sept 12th 1864. This Union soldier writes Im back to the old division again.

Could not stay with Gen Birney in the 10th corps now with Gen Mott. We had quite a fight the other night and taking some 70 prisoners. The 99th T20 Indiana made the charge and some of them got so near the Rebel line that they had to lay flat on the ground all the next day with both sides firing over them all day with cannons and small arms. This letter is in fair condition with some folds and small tears on the fold lines It is a complete letter, legible and signed only with his first name.
