Rutherford B Hayes is remembered as the President of the United States, but during the Civil War he led his men in combat at South Mountain, Berryville, Winchester, Fishers Hill and Cedar Crek, Virginia, including the pivotal battles of Second Winchester & Cloyd's Mountain where he led his men in personal hand-to hand combat. An original Mourning Order issued by the Minnesota Commandery of the Loyal Legion of veteran officers, St Paul, Minnesota. Published "In Memoriam" with his biography and detailed War service, by order of Bvt Major General Wesley Merritt, US Army, Commander of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, at St Paul. Disbound, left margin trimmed and spine reinforced with acid free archival tape. Minor age stains, Overall VG with a striking black mourning margin.
