Offerjng one original CDV of Gen George G Meade out of uniform. It measures 2 and 3/8 in wide and 4 in length. Corners and sides have been clipped to fit in album. This carte was found in an album which belonged to the'Meade family' and was inscribed as such in album. There were two other images of the general in uniform as well as many other Union generals. General George G Meade is known. As the Victor of Gettysburg and took command of the Union forces at Gettysburg on very short notice. This is a rare photo of the general out of uniform. The general looks rather gaunt here, perhaps taken when home to recover from an early Civil War injury. Meade's brigade at Glendale on June 30, 1862 lost 1400 men and he himself was shot in the right arm and through the back. He was sent home to Philadelphia to recover. Whenever this photo was taken it is a one of a kind image of Gen Meade!
