Antique Palmer & Co LG Candle Lamp & Shade c. 1850 Civil War General Estate

  

Fantastic, original, large Palmer & Co candle lamp, circa 1850. Solid brass with original glass shade and original candle sleeve insert. Also includes modern brass adapter for smaller taper style candles. Family recalls that lamp belonged to Mary Pope, and was likely inherited from her father and possibly even her grandfather, which fits with the date of manufacture of the lamp and the quality of the estate. No further information is available.

Lamp is in excellent condition. Beautiful solid unlacquered brass has light age and patina, no major scratches or mottling, verdigris, etc. Shade is in very good condition.

Original heavy cut glass and etched shade with one chip on rear side of top lip as shown in photo. Lamp stands approx 42.5 tall with shade. Base is 6.25" x6.25". Shade is approx 10.5" tall, opening s 9.5"'across.
