Antique Civil War Era Photo German American Gen Franz Sigel in frame
This is not period not reproductions. 6" x 8" Framed engraving or photo of Civil War Union General Franz Sigel (1824 - 1902) The prior owner of this photo says it is circa 1860's and it is in an old metal frame under glass. (looks a little dusty to me) and metal frame shows patina of age. I don't know if anything is written on the paper other than what can be seen through the glass.
According to the internet Sigel was a German Military officer who helped recruit German immigrants to the Union Army. He was the commander at the Battle of Carthage in Missouri July 5, 1861 & fought at Pea Ridge, Wilson's Creek & 2nd Bull Run.
