1 carte de visite of Major General Samuel Peter Heintzelman. Heintzelman was born in the United States to a German immigrant, and he had a long career in the U. Prior to the Civil War he served in the Northern Territory, the Mexican-American War - sometimes under the leadership of General Winfield Scott, later in the western US, and in the Yuma War. During the Civil War, he led the III Corps in the Army of the Potomac. He served at the Second Battle of Bull Run, the Battle of Glendale, etc. He was sent to Texas during Reconstruction.
