Alfred Howe Terry [1827 1890] was a Union general in the American Civil War and military commander in the Dakota Territory. Terry began his career in 1861, where he assembled the 2nd Connecticut Infantry Regiment and served as colonel. In April of 1862, he was appointed brigadier general and commanded at the First Battle of Bull Run, Second Battle of Charleston Harbor, Siege of Petersburg, Battle of Market Heights and the Battle of Wilmington. In 1865, Terry led his troops to victory at the Second Battle of Fort Fisher. Terry was appointed as military commander of the Dakota Territory from 1866 to 1869 and again from 1872 to 1886 and commanded in the Great Sioux War of 1876 and the Nez Perce War. The autograph is signed''Alfred H.

Terry'' and he added his rank''Major General'' in black fountain pen. The page measures 4.00 x 2.50 inches and is affixed to a page.
