Absalom Baird [1824 1905] was a career United Staes Army officer who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the American Civil War. General Baid began his military career in 1849 and served as an instructor at West Point. Baird fought and commanded at numerous key battles including First Battle of Bull Run, Siege of Yorltown, Battle of Franklin, Battle of Chickamauga, Chattanooga Campaign, Atlanta Campaign, Battle of Jonesborough, Sherman's March to the Sea, and the Campaign of the Carolinas. General Baird was awarded the Medal of Honor for his action on September 1, 1864, at the Battle of Jonesborough. The autograph is signed''A.
