Irene Rucker Sheridan, daughter on Union General DH Rucker, married General Philip Sheridan and became a noted Washington hostess when General Sheridan commanded the US Army. An Original March 13 letter (no year) from Irene Sheridan, to Colonel Almon Rockwell, requesting floral arrangement for her father's memorial.

Col Rockwell was US Army Chief of Public Buildings and mourning arrangements for Army notables & an intimate friend of General Phil Sheridan. Irene R Sheridan was the daughter of General Daniel H. Rucker and spent all her entire life connected to the Frontier Army. From the estate of papers of Colonel Almon F Rockwell a notable officer, the only eyewitness to the Assassination of both Abraham Lincoln and James A.

I believe this letter dates to the death of Mrs Sheridan's father General Rucker in 1910. 1p 6 x 5 ink. Age stains, minor edge wear, Overall VG. NOTE: Any repair to a paper item is listed.
