As a 23 old officer, Custer's group played a key role at Gettysburg in tying up Jeb Stuart's cavalry unit which led to little to no reconnaissance information for Robert E.

That resulted in some serious tactical decisions being made by Lee leading to the Confederate defeat at Gettysburg. Custer got promoted to General. The Indians evened the score in 1876. Custer had told Cheyenne warriors he would never kill one of them again in 1869 when one of the many treaties the US did not honor was signed.

Custer lied, and led movements on the Indians in subsequent years which led to many of their deaths. In 1876, the Lakota, Arapaho, and Cheyenne were destroying the second group of Custer's troopers under the command of Majors Reno and Benteen. Indian scouts found Custer's group about 4 miles away. They Indians went and engaged Custer instead and left and destroyed him and 268 troopers dead at the Battle of Little Bighorn.

Dan Nance, a native Carolinian, has been fascinated with history all his life. Coming from a rich and storied heritage, he developed a passion for history from an early age. Visiting American Civil War battlefields instilled not only a deep respect, but an even deeper desire to tell those stories, both famous and anonymous.
