Brigadier General William P Benton of Richmond, Indiana served as Colonel of the 8th Indiana Volunteers, distinguished himself at the battles of Rich Mountain and Pea Ridge, Arkansas, also the Vicksburg, Mississippi and Mobile, Alabama Campaigns. He died soon after the War. An Original 1863 Civil War partial Clothing & Rations Invoice ink signed by Benton as Brigadier General Volunteers. 1p 8 x 3 ptd/ink edge wear, age stains, Overall VG.
