Inscribed Civil War interest book " Religio Medici"by Sir Thomas Browne, 1862 Stated second edition. To the front fly page: Dr. Andrews (at the top); Rev. John Wilde with regards of Ellis Spear; Stamford March 12th 1863. My assumption upon research: Ellis Spear at the time was a recruiter for the union army - perhaps in Stamford CT for this reason but this gives a great timeline for where he was and to whom he had interaction with.
Andrews at the top, I can only assume this was passed through this Dr. Andrews to be given to Rev. Ellis Spear would have dated this at the bottom to show his position upon gifting this book. Fair plus: 7 5/8 x 5 -440 numbered pages. Desc: Inscribed as stated and pictured to front fly in Green pebbled cloth boards with beveled edges, book shows wear to corners and spine ends with black cloth book tape over a worn spine.
Intact reading interior with frontispiece and tissue intact with foxing as shown. A very interesting Civil war memento book.
