Civil War Confederate General William B. " 87.6 percent Highly likely". Very Very, likely to be William Bates. I believe this could be Civil War Confederate General William B. All though, I have no written provenance. I'm confident this is William Gates. This is a perfect match. Keep in mind you are looking at only eye sockets on this photo, compared to the known photo that shows some eye brow. Not uncommon for the photo to be over exposed and loose the eye brows. I'm only going this low, because I have no provenance. Do I believe this is General Gates. The sky's the limit on this limited confederate general.
