Original signed check by Civil War Brigadier General George L. During General Banks expedition to New Orleans, Andrews was promoted to Brigadier General. Later after the fall of Port Husdon, Andrews was assigned to form African American troops in The Army of The Gulf forming The Corps d'Afrique. Many of the men from this unit were freed slaves.

This check is from 1869 when Andrews was a US Marshal. It is endorsed by him on the reverse in period ink. A scarce signature of this Brigadier General who also received a Brevet to Major General. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Autographs\Military".
