C1863 Carte De Visite Confederate General J. E. B. Stuart, C. S. A. CIVIL War
Original cdv, engraved bust portrait of James Ewell Brown "JEB" Stuart, a legendary figure and one of the greatest cavalry commanders in American history, c1863. Albumen print mounted to heavy cardstock measuring 3 15/16" x 2 7/16". Recto bordered in blue with printed identification at bottom, verso blank. Slight toning, spotting, else very good. Stuart served from Virginia's secession in 1861until his death in 1864. He led the Confederate Cavalry at the battles of Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Gettysburg; was wounded at the Battle of Yellow Tavern on May 11, 1864 and died the next day from his injuries.
