This vintage banquet program is in GOOD (moderate cover wear, see scan) condition. This is such a cool piece of history. It is the program for the 70th birthday of Union Army Major General Otis Howard. The event was held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. One of the speakers was Booker T.
Washington, President of Tuskegee University. Among the many members of the Executive Committee for this event were (then) New York Governor and future president Theodore Roosevelt and financier J. General Howard fought at Gettysburg and became the Union Army officer in charge of the Western Theater during the Civil War. He was one of the founders of Howard University.
Howard University was named after him.
