Loyd Davis, began collecting sheet music in the 1960's up until his passing in 2011. Our Union Camp Sonag sheet music piece from 1864 with a portrait of Lt. This sheet music offered celebrates Grant's appointment.

On March 2, 1864 by President Abraham Lincoln to Lieutenant General, giving him command of all Union Armies. Grant's new rank had only previously been held by George Washington. He arrived in Washington on March 8, and was formally commissioned by Lincoln the next day at a Cabinet meeting. President, Grant stabilized the post-war national economy, supported congressional Reconstruction and the ratification of the Fifteenth Amendment, and prosecuted the Ku Klux Klan.

He appointed African Americans and Jewish Americans to prominent federal offices. In 1871, he created the first Civil Service Commission, advancing the civil service more than any prior president. In 2022 Grant became the third person in U.

History to be promoted to General of the Armies in celebration of the bicentennial of his birth. As president of the United States Grant promoted Native American rights, a vigorous enforcement of civil and voting rights for African Americans, and securing North and South as a single nation within the Union.
