The book provides biographical insights to Sherman, his military career, and his battles, campaigns and events of his service. Shermans candid and forthright view and recollections, in addition to his significance, make for enjoyable reading.

His correspondence between Sherman and the Ewings father-in-law Thomas and brother-in-law Philemon, provide excellent insight into the life and career of Sherman. Sherman and Phil were also foster brothers, and their close friendship is evidenced by Shermans decision to name a son born to him and his wife in 1867, Philemon Tecumseh Sherman. This first edition book is in excellent condition. This is the last copy of this book it is out-of-print and no longer available from the publisher. The exterior is handsomely presented with crossing flags on the cover and gold lettering on the spine.

The interior is clean and the pages are in excellent, bright white condition. The binding is solid throughout the book.
