An original and truly exceptional sword is a Model of 1860 Staff Officer's sword made for a General Officer. The superlative silver grip is deeply cast in intricate designs containing scales of justice, a caduceus, geometric designs and a General Officers star. A General Officers star is also on the gilt knucklebow.

The entire hilt is cast in the most intricate manner. The blade is an unusual triple fuller example also etched in intricate geometric designs. It has a French inspector mark of a crow but the letter is not visible. On the underside of the counter guard can be seen the retail mark "EL" with three stars which is mark of importer/retailer E. Exceptional casting and chasing work. Detail of the quill showing the U. The small star at the top of the grip. Detail of the obverse counter guard, a beautifully executed American eagle superimposed on sunrays. Detail of the reverse shows the unusual attention to detail.

Sword Elements: Blade is 32, elliptical in shape. Blade has multiple fullers approximately 26 in length.

Hilt is exceptionally cast in extremely fine style. General officer star on the grip and on the knucklebow. Browned steel scabbard with gilt mounts on the obverse and reverse sides (free of dents).
